Responsible Alcohol Consumption & Safe Driving Practices Policy
Our Policy
1. Conforming to regional Liquor Acts, specifically Section 39 where we commit to:

- Not serve alcohol to intoxicated persons or persons under the age of 18
- Only sell or serve alcohol within the time approved in our liquor license
- Only persons over the age of 18 are permitted to serve alcohol
- Pregnant Women Should Not Drink Alcohol or be served alcohol
2. We support the harm reduction policies developed and promoted by the Industry Association for Responsible Alcohol Use – aware.org.za.
3. Strictly no under 18s allowed.
4. We conduct comprehensive exhibitor briefings before each show to reinforce that:

- No alcohol is to be served by or to U18s
- No alcohol is to be served to anyone showing signs of visible intoxication
- Tasting glasses are marked with a ‘fill-to’ line set at 50ml
- Tasting ENDS at 4.30pm. NO alcohol can be poured after this time.
- We encourage exhibitors to educate consumers on the use of the spittoon.
- Our security and service staff are briefed to be on the look-out for intoxicated persons, report to event organisers, and take action where necessary.
- Abuse of event staff, suppliers and promoters will not be tolerated.
- We provide free purified water to consumers to keep them hydrated and provide quality affordable food offerings to encourage consumers to eat at the event.
5. At event we undertake the following activities:

- We utilise a token system in order to better control the volume of tastings at the event.
- Wine tastings END at 4pm (Durban) and 4.30pm (Cape Town and Johannesburg). Wine and food sales are facilitated until 30 minutes before closing time.
- We provide free water to consumers to keep patrons hydrated, and provide quality affordable food offerings to encourage consumers to eat at the event.
- We sell cold drinks and coffee from various points at the venue.
6. We also communicate to patrons in the following ways:

- Responsible drinking messaging on our digital platforms.
- Event branding / signage on the day
- Producer, supplier and promotor briefings.
7. We encourage all patrons to Uber to the event, or have a designated driver who will not consume alcohol at the event. Do not drink and drive.
