Event Code of Conduct
Pick n Pay and Worldsport South Africa (Pty) Ltd are dedicated to providing a premium Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival experience where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Our event code of conduct can be summarised in three sentences:
Be considerate and courteous
Uber or have a designated driver
Taste and drink responsibly
Before you arrive
- Please ensure that you do not carry any of the event’s prohibited items.
- We strongly advise that you Uber to and from the event venue, or have a designated driver. Do not drink and drive.
- Please leave your children at home. This is a No U-18 event.
At the event
- All event participants – staff, attendees, sponsors, vendors, exhibitors, and volunteers – are required to agree to and abide by this Event Code of Conduct. Organisers will enforce this Code of Conduct throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a respectful, welcoming, and safe environment for one another.
- Please report any inappropriate behaviour as soon as possible and in person to the nearest security guard or accredited member of staff. The event organisers may take whatever actions considered appropriate, including a guest’s removal from the event without refund, notification of a staff member’s inappropriate behavior to their employer, and a future event ban.
- Guests will adhere to the Token system, which is in place to promote responsible drinking and monitor alcohol consumption.
- While these tokens have no value and cannot be exchanged for cash, guests are required to “pay” between one and four tokens per tasting, based on the price point of the wine:
- 1 x token: wine valued up to R199
- 2 x tokens: wine valued R200 – R399
- 4 x tokens: wine valued above R400
- Tastings are not poured beyond the tasting line on the glass.
- Guests may not try to exchange multiple tokens for a full glass of wine.
- While these tokens have no value and cannot be exchanged for cash, guests are required to “pay” between one and four tokens per tasting, based on the price point of the wine:
- Wine tasting ends at 4.30pm. Guests may not approach tasting staff for additional pouring after this time. Tasting staff may not be harassed in any way.
- There is a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, which includes: deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, and offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, and religion.
- Threats will not be tolerated. “In the heat of the moment” is not an excuse.
- Participants who are asked to stop any unwanted behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
- If you witness any unwanted behaviour, please contact an accredited member of the event staff or security personnel immediately.
- An event safety plan is in place, with comprehensive emergency procedures and on-site basic medical assistance. If you or someone in your presence needs medical assistance, please alert the staff to call the medical team.
All policies are subject to change.
